Jim Thorpe and Tamaqua are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Jim Thorpe Olympians will head out on the road to square off against the Tamaqua Blue Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jim Thorpe is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
Last Wednesday, Jim Thorpe lost to Pottsville on the road by a decisive 59-43 margin. While losing is never fun, Jim Thorpe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 662nd, while Pottsville is ranked 169th).
Meanwhile, Tamaqua's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 55-43 to Lehighton. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Tamaqua has scored all season.
Jim Thorpe's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Tamaqua, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Jim Thorpe ended up a good deal behind Tamaqua in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, losing 60-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Tamaqua's Connor Dillon, who scored 25 points along with five steals. Now that Jim Thorpe knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
