The Esperanza Aztecs will be taking part in a tournament against the Los Altos Conquerors at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Tuesday, Esperanza was able to grind out a solid win over Crean Lutheran, taking the game 10-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Aztecs.
Luciana Teran made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Teran was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Abby McCann was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tayloran Sicard, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Esperanza was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crean Lutheran only posted a batting average of .222.
Meanwhile, Los Altos got the win against La Serna on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-3. Considering the Conquerors have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Aliyah Lara was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Aliyah Zamano was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Esperanza's record is now 4-5. As for Los Altos, their record now sits at 12-6.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Esperanza hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Los Altos struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
