The Churchill Bulldogs entered their tilt with the Walter Johnson Wildcats with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Churchill sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 32-30 victory over Walter Johnson on Friday. For Churchill, this counts as revenge for the 21-9 loss Walter Johnson walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2022.
David Avit was his usual excellent self, rushing for 248 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also picking up 56 receiving yards. Avit's longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards.
Churchill's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.2 points per game. As for Walter Johnson, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2.
Churchill will take on Richard Montgomery at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Richard Montgomery is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Walter Johnson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
