The Standley Lake Gators stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They breezed by Aurora Central on the road to the tune of 66-24. Winning may never get old, but Standley Lake sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Taylin Serlen continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 steals. She hasn't dropped below two blocks for seven straight games. Sydney Martin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Aurora Central saw an underclassman step up: Jamaea Johnson Gonzalez dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Johnson Gonzalez is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 14 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nijaha Davis, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Aurora Central struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Standley Lake racked up 25 assists.
Standley Lake's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Aurora Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.
Standley Lake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-38 loss vs. Green Mountain on the 12th. Aurora Central has also already played their next game, a 47-9 loss against Skyview on the 12th.
