Live Oak and the Falcons are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Live Oak Acorns' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Hill Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Live Oak has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Live Oak has not done well against the Chargers recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Live Oak came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 62-49. The victory was all the more spectacular given Live Oak's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1187th, while the Chargers are ranked 554th).
Live Oak's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raymond Ramirez, who scored 30 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ramirez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nathan Lozano, who scored 15 points along with five assists and three steals.
Ann Sobrato typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Hill proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 75-62 victory over the Bulldogs. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Live Oak's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-17. As for Hill, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-9.
Things could have been worse for Live Oak, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 78-61 loss to the Falcons when the teams last played back in January. Can Live Oak avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
