Fullerton is 10-0 against Palmer since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Fullerton Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Palmer Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Fullerton unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 68-40 loss at the hands of Central City. While losing is never fun, Fullerton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while Central City is ranked 31st).
Despite the loss, Fullerton saw an underclassman step up: Kane Wetovick scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrick Gonsior, who scored nine points.
Fullerton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Palmer's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by High Plains at home and fell 72-44. Palmer was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-21.
Fullerton now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Palmer, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Fullerton against Palmer in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 63-18 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fullerton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
