The Cardinal Huskies will challenge the Windham Bombers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cardinal has three straight victories, Windham has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Cardinal had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Grand Valley on Monday. The Huskies blew past the Mustangs 14-3. Considering the Huskies have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Kacie Carman made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Morgan Natali was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Pleva, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Windham couldn't beat Mathews on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Bombers fell 12-9 to the Mustangs.
Makenzi Blockinger and Aralynn Woofter stepped up to the plate in a big way. Blockinger went 3-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles, while Woofter went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandria Hudak, who went 3-for-4 with one triple.
Windham's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Cardinal, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Everything went Cardinal's way against Windham in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Cardinal made off with an 11-4 win. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Bombers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
