The Clifton Cubs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lexington Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Clifton's three-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They put the hurt on Buffalo with a sharp 32-8 victory.
Clifton can attribute much of their success to Riley Finney, who rushed for 83 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Finney was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.
Meanwhile, Lexington had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They breezed by Elkhart at home to the tune of 42-10. The result was nothing new for Lexington, who have now won three matches by 32 points or more so far this season.
Lexington can attribute much of their success to John Williams, who rushed for 50 yards and three touchdowns, and Kase Evans, who threw for 292 yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Clifton to 3-4 and Lexington to 5-2.
Clifton took a serious blow against Lexington when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 40-7. Thankfully for Clifton, Daylon Washington (who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 73 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
