North Newton won the last time they faced Hammond Gavit, and things went their way on Saturday, too. Everything went North Newton's way against Hammond Gavit as they made off with a 21-0 win. The North Newton offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Junior Colin Wagner, who rushed for 118 yards and 1 touchdown, was a major factor in the success.
The victory bumped North Newton's record up to 2-1. Hammond Gavit are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-3.
North Newton will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against Kankakee Valley at 8:00 PM. As for Hammond Gavit, they will face off against Highland.
