The Western Plains Bobcats will head out on the road to challenge the Triplains/Brewster Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Plains is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Western Plains lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They suffered a tough 56-30 loss at the hands of Dighton. Western Plains was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-11.
Despite the defeat, Western Plains saw an underclassman step up: Madelyn Kraus scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 60% of Western Plains' points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Spangler, who scored four points along with six assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, Triplains/Brewster's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Northern Valley at home and fell 60-28. Triplains/Brewster has struggled against Northern Valley recently, as their match on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Western Plains' loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Triplains/Brewster, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Western Plains was dealt a bruising 51-23 loss at the hands of Triplains/Brewster in their previous matchup back in January of 2016. Thankfully for Western Plains, Kelly Lamb (who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
