The McDonough Rams entered their tilt with the Patuxent Panthers with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. McDonough beat Patuxent on Monday by the very same score they won with last week: 59-55. Given McDonough's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Patuxent is ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tyrik Petway continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Zavian Riley, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
McDonough pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Patuxent, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
McDonough will be playing in front of their home fans against Westlake at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Westlake is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Patuxent, they will head out on the road to square off against Huntingtown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Huntingtown is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
