Centry Lundberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Riverton faced Box Elder in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Silverwolves walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Bees. The win was familiar territory for the Silverwolves, who have now won six contests in a row.
Peyton Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Sanchez was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Grace Leary was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Maggie Hamblin was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Riverton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .556 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Cedar Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Riverton, their victory bumped their record up to 18-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Cedar Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Riverton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
