The Fort Jennings Musketeers will head out to take on the Ada Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fort Jennings is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
On Monday, Fort Jennings beat Ayersville 6-3.
Fort Jennings' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jarron Swick, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Owen Calvelage was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Ada came into Monday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over Pandora-Gilboa on Monday. The Bulldogs not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 7th (when they won 12-0).
Levi Green and Thad Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Green went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs, while Smith got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Wibley, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Fort Jennings' win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Ada, their record is now 4-14.
Ada's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fort Jennings hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. It's a different story for Ada, though, as they've only averaged .239. Will they be able to contain Fort Jennings' hitters?
Everything went Fort Jennings' way against Ada when the teams last played back in May of 2018, as Fort Jennings made off with a 13-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Musketeers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
