The Whitko Wildcats had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against South Adams by a score of 77-65 on Friday. Whitko is really starting to get used to good results now that the team's won 12 straight.
Whitko's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayma Stonebraker led the charge by scoring 24 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stonebraker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Stonebraker, who scored 11 points along with eight assists and four steals.
Several Starfires players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laney Trausch, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Macy Pries was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds.
Whitko's win bumped their record up to 20-3. As for South Adams, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
Whitko won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season. South Adams does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
