Alvarado is 8-2 against Venus since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Alvarado Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Venus Bulldogs at 5:45 p.m. Hopefully Alvarado focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
Last Friday, everything went Alvarado's way against Ferris as Alvarado made off with a 49-29 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Alvarado.
Candra Bridgewater and Joslyn Jarmon were among the main playmakers for Alvarado as the former scored 20 points along with six rebounds and the latter scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. The contest was Bridgewater's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lauren Melson, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Venus' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 65-20 defeat at the hands of Godley. While losing is never fun, Venus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1021st, while Godley is ranked 157th).
Alvarado's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Venus, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Everything came up roses for Alvarado against Venus in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 69-23 victory. With Alvarado ahead 34-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
