The St. John Woodchucks waltzed into their matchup Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against Midway/Minto by a score of 65-52.
St. John's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alani Morin, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Morin is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kaycee Desjarlais, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and eight assists.
St. John's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points per game. As for Midway/Minto, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2.
St. John will head out on the road to face off against North Border co-op [Walhalla/Pembina] at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Midway/Minto, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Langdon/Edmore/Munich at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Langdon/Edmore/Munich's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
