Baseball Game Preview: Rosamond Roadrunners vs. Lone Pine Golden Eagles

Rosamond is a perfect 3-0 against Lone Pine since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Roadrunners will square off against the Golden Eagles at 3:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Rosamond turned things around against Desert on Friday. They put the hurt on the Scorpions with a sharp 18-10 victory.

Julian Pope Herdnandez was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pope Herdnandez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Rosamond is 3-1 when Pope Herdnandez posts two or more runs, but 2-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Rosamond got a massive performance out of Zane Adams, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Adams has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Covarrubias, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Rosamond always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Lone Pine had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 19-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Rosamond's record now sits at 5-12. As for Lone Pine, their record is now 5-3.

Rosamond beat Lone Pine 8-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Roadrunners repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
