The Wesley Chapel Wildcats came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 77-62 win over Land O' Lakes. Given Wesley Chapel's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Land O' Lakes is ranked 355th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wesley Chapel was led to victory by Trey Murray and Sian Morris. Murray scored 19 points along with three steals, while Morris scored 19 points along with six assists and two steals. Murray is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Javin Harrison was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds.
Wesley Chapel's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.58 points. As for Land O' Lakes, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
Wesley Chapel won't have much time to rest: their next game is against P.K. Yonge at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jantzen Griffin and Murray. Land O' Lakes on the road again on Saturday and play against North Marion at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully North Marion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday.
