With a playoff game on the line, the Huntingtown Hurricanes rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 35-0 victory over Westlake at home. The result was nothing new for Huntingtown, who have now won seven matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Leading Huntingtown to victory were Landon Cawley and Evan Kuntz. Cawley rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, while Kuntz rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Trenton DePompa made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
The win (which was Huntingtown's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points per game. As for Westlake, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6.
Huntingtown will square off against Potomac at TBD on Friday. Potomac will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Huntingtown is ranked 35th). Westlake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
