The Oak Hill Raiders will square off against the Monmouth Academy Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Oak Hill has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Monday, Oak Hill didn't have quite enough to beat Lisbon and fell 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by just one run.
Oak Hill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Rivet, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Rivet has hit this season. Carlee Austin was another, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Monmouth Academy put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Maine Central Institute with a sharp 7-1 win. Considering the Mustangs have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Shannah Parsons made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rileigh Chase, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Chase is crushing it when it comes to triples: she's hit at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
Monmouth Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Oak Hill, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Oak Hill skirted past Monmouth Academy 8-7 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
