The Axtell Longhorns had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Hearne 25-22.
Axtell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Bays, who scored 7 points. Another player making a difference was Cole Tindle, who scored 6 points.
Axtell's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Hearne, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Axtell's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hill Country Christian School of Austin at 4:45 p.m. on December 9th. Hill Country Christian School of Austin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Axtell likes a good challenge. Hearne will be home for the holidays to greet Centerville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
