Barstow is 1-8 against Silverado since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Barstow Aztecs will be playing at home against the Silverado Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Barstow will be strutting in after a win while Silverado will be coming in after a defeat.
Two weeks ago, Barstow humbled Victor Valley with a 49-14 victory. The result was nothing new for Barstow, who have now won five matches by 28 points or more so far this season.
Dwayne Williams was a one-man wrecking crew for Barstow as he rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Demetri Curiel, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Silverado, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They fell 30-22 to Adelanto on Thursday.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jayden Pauling, who picked up 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Sire Foster, who picked up 111 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Barstow's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.5 points per game. As for Silverado, they have fallen quite a ways from their 8-3 record last season and are now at 0-8.
Barstow suffered a grim 38-18 defeat to Silverado in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Barstow have more luck at home instead of on the road?
