CRESSON, Pa. -
Richland (Johnstown, Pa.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Matt Shaffer ran for a touchdown with with 9:00 to go in the third quarter, bringing the team to victory over
Penn Cambria (Cresson, Pa.) 30-12.
The teams went into the locker room at halftime deadlocked at 12. The Rams took the lead for good on a Shaffer touchdown run in the third quarter.
With the win Richland extended its winning streak to eight games. RHS defeated the Hilltoppers 51-23 last week.
Shaffer stood out for the Johnstown school in the win. The junior quarterback ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
Devin Lawhead played well for the Panthers. The senior running back threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
The Rams came into the game allowing 11.3 points per game. Penn Cambria's 12 points were well below its season average of 27.7 per game.
Richland got revenge for last year's 32-24 loss to PC with the victory.
In a Laurel Highlands game next week Penn Cambria (4-4) takes on Westmont Hilltop, and Richland (8-0) will go up against Central Cambria also in a Laurel Highlands game.
