JAG is 3-0 against Pike Road since November of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The JAG Jaguars will be staying on the road to face off against the Pike Road Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Tuesday, JAG faced Enterprise in a battle between two of the state's top teams. JAG fell just short of Enterprise by a score of 48-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat JAG has suffered yet this season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was JaMicah Adair, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ladarius Givan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pike Road's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 63-56 to Russell County. While losing is never fun, Pike Road can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Russell County is ranked 72nd).
JAG's loss dropped their record down to 19-4. As for Pike Road, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
JAG beat Pike Road 52-39 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Does JAG have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pike Road turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
