The New Prairie Cougars kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 75-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Bend Washington. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for New Prairie in their matchups with South Bend Washington: they've now lost three in a row.
New Prairie's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Devan Kalicki, who scored 23 points, and Brody Wiginton who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Lapczynski, who scored 8 points.
New Prairie's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for South Bend Washington, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Prairie will take on La Porte at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for South Bend Washington, they will head out on the road to face off against South Bend Clay at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
