The Ceres Bulldogs will square off against the Granite Bay Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ceres knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Granite Bay likes a good challenge.
Ceres pushed their score all the way to 58 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They had to suffer through a rough 87-58 loss at the hands of Mountain House. Ceres was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-22.
The losing side was boosted by Manuel Ortega, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Gurman Dhaliwal was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Ceres struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mountain House racked up 17 assists.
Meanwhile, Granite Bay pushed their score all the way to 72 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Del Oro 76-72. While losing is never fun, Granite Bay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 361st, while Del Oro is ranked 76th).
Ceres' loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Granite Bay, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season.
