East Fairmont extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-18 in the process. They took a 17-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elkins Tigers. Even though they lost, the Bees' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
East Fairmont got a massive performance out of Sydney Baston, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with six RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Gracie Snyder, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.
As for Elkins, they moved to 6-13 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
On Elkins' side, the team relied heavily on Madyson Shreve, who went 4-for-6 with three runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Shreve a new career-high. Rileigh Wingfield also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
East Fairmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Elkins, they will face off against Fairmont Senior at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Polar Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.59 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
