It certainly seems that
Gainesville (Ga.) is "Quarterback High" of late.
The Georgia city located about an hour northwest of Atlanta has alumni lining up behind center at two of the country's most prominent programs.
Blake Sims, a 2010 Gainesville graduate and fifth-year senior at Alabama, beat out Jacob Coker for the right to command the offense for Nick Saban at Alabama. As a high school senior, he threw for 2,288 yards.
The next season, Gainesville gave the starting job to a scrawny ninth-grader,
DeShaun Watson, who went on to have one of the greatest careers in Georgia high school football history.
Watson is now the starter behind center as a true freshman for Clemson, though he's currently working his way back from a surgical procedure to his hand.
On Friday night, with both Alabama and Clemson on bye, Sims and Watson both made it back to their alma mater to see Gainesville defeat Loganvillle.
