The Southwood Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eastern. Southwood lost against Eastern in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 39-34 score last time.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryce Wilcox, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Wilcox scored a full 28.8% of Southwood's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Winer, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals.
Southwood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Eastern, the last time they lost on the road was back last Saturday. Having now won three straight away contests, they've pushed their record up to 2-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwood will be home for the holidays to greet Manchester at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Manchester knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Southwood likes a good challenge. Eastern will be home for the holidays to greet Sheridan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sheridan presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eastern in Indiana (Sheridan is ranked 110th, while Eastern is ranked 313th).
