Landon Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Derreck Buford was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Tritt Buhr was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Crowley County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Calhan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Toby Monger, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Donnie Fink also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Crowley County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Calhan, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12-2.
Crowley County took their victory against Calhan in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-2 score. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
