Atkins dropped to 6-7 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Oak Grove Grizzlies, falling 17-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Camels were not able to get on the board.
As for Oak Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Considering they have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
For Oak Grove's part, Carson Everhart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Everhart was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and four RBI. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Oak Grove is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Oak Grove got a great performance from Cooper Hunt as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Hunt has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Mason Crouse was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Aidan Murphy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Atkins has already played their next contest, a 17-0 loss against North Davidson on the 31st. As for Oak Grove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-3 defeat against Mount Tabor on the 30th.
