6A Region 3 recap November 5, 2013
Provine fell to Oak Grove 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. CAMERON BOLTON threw for 21 yards and ran for 22 yards in the loss.
Brandon's dynamic duo of Gardner Minshew and Arthur Turner proved to be unstoppable against Jim Hill, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Minshew threw for 285 yards and 4 touchdowns and Turner had 84 yards receiving. Darien Tillis helped Brandon's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 77 yards.
The Warriors' Kirk McCarty and Jordan Mitchell have formed a dream team this season, leading 6A Region 3 in both passing and receiving yards. 5-0 quarterback McCarty has thrown for 2,542 yards this season, while Mitchell has 33 catches for 628 yards. Petal's Tyus Raine leads the league in rushing yards with 1,331.
DEMARQUE BROWN of the Provine is only 70 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. BROWN has rushed for 930 yards on 188 carries so far this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Terry takes on the Panthers. The Bulldogs are in fifth place, while Petal is in third place.
The Tigers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,143 from 8,721. The improvement was largely due to a 41-21 victory over Jim Hill last week.
