After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Parker, the River Valley Dust Devils were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They blew past Odyssey Institute 63-31 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory River Valley has managed all season.
River Valley was led to victory by Nysaiah Vargas and Gabriel Short. Vargas scored 19 points along with four steals, while Short scored 13 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Short posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Nash Hanrahan, who scored 14 points.
River Valley's victory ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-8. As for Odyssey Institute, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Valley has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Madison Highland Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Madison Highland Prep is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Odyssey Institute, they will be playing at home against Parker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
