Lindsey Evans made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Union City let Oaklee Reichard and Hannah Woolston run wild. Reichard went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Woolston got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Reichard has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Valerie Mata, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Union City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, South Adams was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They fell just short of Heritage by a score of 3-2.
South Adams' defeat ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-2. As for Union City, their record now sits at 4-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Union City hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like South Adams struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Union City suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to South Adams when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
