The Oaks-Mission Warriors will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Coyle Bluejackets at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Oaks-Mission came up short against Watts and fell 44-32. Oaks-Mission was down 44-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Malakye Hawley put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 89 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Coyle had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points), and they went ahead and made it three two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Bluejacket 46-0 on the road. The result was nothing new for Coyle, who have now won three contests by 32 points or more so far this season.
Oaks-Mission's defeat was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.2 points per game. Coyle is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Oaks-Mission was dealt a bruising 60-28 defeat at the hands of Coyle in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Oaks-Mission have more luck at home instead of on the road?
