Taft School proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 16) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hotchkiss School Bearcats, sneaking past 6-4. That's more bragging rights for the Big Red, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Taft School got a great performance from Evan Douglas as he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Cayden Van Dolah and Parker Woods did most of the damage at the plate: Van Dolah went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Woods went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Van Dolah has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Taft School has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Hotchkiss School, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Taft School is set to square off against their familiar foe Kingswood Oxford at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Hotchkiss School will take on rival Westminster School at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
