Newport hasn't had much luck against Riverside recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Grizzlies will square off against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Newport's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
On Tuesday, Newport sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 win over Davenport.

Lili Hall made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Newport got a massive performance out of Genica Kreider, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, Kreider posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Bella Boyd was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Newport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Riverside was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They came up short against Deer Park, falling 12-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Rams have suffered against the Stags since April 28, 2022.
Riverside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lindsey Hudson-Wayne, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
The victory got Newport back to even at 5-5. As for Riverside, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Newport couldn't quite get it done against Riverside in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 8-4. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
