Basketball Recap: Portland Adventist Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Riverdale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Portland Adventist Academy). They blew past the Riverdale Mavericks 67-46 on Saturday. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season.

Dane Petersen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10 for 16 on his way to 24 points in addition to five boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Thompson, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Portland Adventist Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Riverdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Portland Adventist Academy Cougars face off against the Clatskanie Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverdale and Oregon Episcopal will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oregon Episcopal knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Riverdale likes a good challenge.
