It was a good run, but the James Irwin Jaguars unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were the victim of a tough 64-44 defeat at the hands of Salida. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points James Irwin has scored all season.
James Irwin's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabriel Rubio, who scored 18 points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that Rubio scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Lebron, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
James Irwin's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3. As for Salida, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season.
James Irwin will take on the Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lamar focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Salida, they will head out on the road to take on the Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Banning Lewis Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
