New Haven is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while East Noble is on a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The New Haven Bulldogs will take on the East Noble Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, New Haven took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 47-12 victory over Huntington North. Given New Haven's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Huntington North is ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Donovan Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 301 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.7 yards per attempt. Williams was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Ajani Washington was another key contributor, picking up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, East Noble was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Bellmont 70-7 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-7.
Zander Brazel had an outrageously good game as he threw for 293 yards and six touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Reinbold, who rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Their wins bumped New Haven to 8-1 and East Noble to 7-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. New Haven has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 194 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like East Noble struggles in that department as they've been even better at 247.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
New Haven came up short against East Noble in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 31-21. Will New Haven have more luck at home instead of on the road?
