Sidney hasn't had much luck against Butler recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Yellowjackets will look to defend their home field against the Aviators at 5:00 p.m. Sidney is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Sidney not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024. They put the hurt on Stebbins with a sharp 15-5 win. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Ethan New was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. New was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Michael Frazier looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Jordan Shipe was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kade Swiger, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Sidney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Butler put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Greenville a 4-0 shutout.
Butler pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Sidney, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Sidney suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Butler in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Yellowjackets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
