Payson Pene was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season.
In other batting news, J Hollembeak made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. B Hall also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
