Holmes County Central can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. Everything went their way against Canton as Holmes County Central made off with a 39-14 victory. Given Holmes County Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Canton is ranked 122nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Holmes County Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jartavious Smart, who rushed for 188 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Garrison Davis, who rushed for 58 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Corinth, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-14 loss to Lafayette on Thursday. Corinth has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Holmes County Central's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Corinth, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
