Clyde has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They and the Sandusky Blue Streaks will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though Clyde has not done well against the Tigers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Clyde put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 62-42 win. With Clyde ahead 38-16 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Clyde relied on the efforts of Brayden Olson, who scored 16 points along with six assists and five rebounds, and Brennen Wilson, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Wilson is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Ben Wott, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Sandusky waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They came out on top against Scott by a score of 68-59. Given Sandusky's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clyde's win bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Sandusky, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with that win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Clyde came up short against the Blue Streaks in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 61-51. Can Clyde avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
