If Eaglecrest wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Cherry Creek, they should've done a better job of containing Aubrey Blake. The Bruins put the hurt on the Raptors with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday thanks in part to Blake, who had 16 digs and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played.
The win didn't come easy: Eaglecrest scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-23, 25-22.
Cherokee Trail hadn't beaten Grandview on the road since April 6, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them last Thursday. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wolves 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since August 21st.
Cherokee Trail had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-27, 25-23, 25-20, 15-12.
Cherry Creek better keep an eye on Alize Flores. She was instrumental in Cherokee Trail's win, getting 14 digs and four aces. That's the most aces Flores has posted since back in August of 2024.
The victory got Cherry Creek back to even at 5-5. As for Cherokee Trail, their record now sits at 6-4.
Everything went Cherry Creek's way against Cherokee Trail in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Cherry Creek made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Bruins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
