The Alexandria Valley Cubs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Jacksonville 58-52. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Alexandria of the 40-21 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jacksonville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deasia Prothro, who scored nine points along with two steals. Prothro hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayci Taylor, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Alexandria's defeat dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Jacksonville, they now have a winning record of 15-14.
Alexandria will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Jacksonville will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
