After a string of three wins, the Sunlake Seahawks's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Zephyrhills. Sunlake was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Zephyrhills apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Several Seahawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaycie Hyde, who scored 10 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals. Hyde is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawn Figueroa, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals.
Sunlake's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Zephyrhills, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunlake will face off against Calvary Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Zephyrhills, they will head out on the road to face off against Cypress Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cypress Creek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 484th, while Zephyrhills is ranked 213th).
