It was a good run, but the Mill Creek Hawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 67-53 bruising from South Mecklenburg. While losing is never fun, Mill Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 157th in Georgia, while South Mecklenburg is ranked 31st in North Carolina).
It was another big night for Anderson Skelton, who scored 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds for South Mecklenburg. The match was Skelton's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Yariel Chudgar, who scored 17 points.
Mill Creek's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for South Mecklenburg, they pushed their record up to 10-0 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Mill Creek and Decatur will round out the year against one another at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at. Decatur is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. South Mecklenburg and Langtree Charter will face off at 8:30 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
