The West Branch Warriors will challenge the Boardman Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
West Branch came up short against Canfield on Saturday, falling 3-0. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
West Branch was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-23, 25-14.
Meanwhile, Boardman made easy work of Harding on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Boardman was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-12, 25-4.
West Branch better focus on containing Emma Terlesky and Sadie Satterfield as the pair were huge in Boardman's win. Terlesky had 18 assists and three aces, while Satterfield had 11 digs and two assists. Those three aces gave Terlesky a new career-high. Addie Rudge also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Boardman was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harding only served three.
Boardman's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for West Branch, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's match: West Branch has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Boardman struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
