After flying high against the Robeson Business Tech Eagles last Monday, the John Jay Wolves came back down to earth. John Jay fell 61-51 to Brooklyn Tech on Friday. John Jay was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Brooklyn Tech apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November.
Brooklyn Tech's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Baseer Mirza, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Chadwyck Beckford, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds.
John Jay now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Brooklyn Tech, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, John Jay and Bushwick will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Bushwick is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Brooklyn Tech will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Transit Tech at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Transit Tech has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 511 points over their last six contests.
